Results of the 3rd quarter: pork production increased by 6%, beef production fell by almost 4%

In January-September 2022, Russian farms produced 7 million 862 thousand tons of meat in slaughter weight (pork, beef, poultry, lamb and goat meat), which is 4.1% or 309 thousand tons more than in the same period last year .

“As before, our leaders are the Central Federal District: 41% of the total production of all types of meat (3 million 252 thousand tons in carcass weight). And for the period under review, the output increased by almost 6% (+180.2 thousand tons), and the growth rate will continue,” says Lyubov Savkina, commercial director of the IMIT agency.

Pig production: growth in all indicators

By October 1, 2022, the number of pigs in all categories of farms increased by 3.9% (+1.1 million heads) per year and now has 28.3 million heads. In agricultural organizations, the number of pigs increased by 5.1% and amounted to 26.2 million animals. The number of livestock in households fell by 9.3% (-0.2 million heads), to 2.2 million.

 

Excellent performance of agricultural organizations in the Smolensk region (+95.1%; +153 thousand heads), as well as in Orel (+44.7%; +353 thousand heads) and Tver (+53.8%; +326 thousand heads) . heads). There are regions where the number of livestock in agricultural organizations has significantly decreased: these are the Novgorod region (-58%; -64.7 thousand heads), Pskov (-19.6%; -294 thousand heads), Novosibirsk (-20.9%; -87.9 thousand heads).

For the 3rd quarter of 2022, Russian farms of all categories produced 3 million 48 thousand tons of pork in slaughter weight (4 million 159 thousand tons in live weight), which is 6.2%, or 179 thousand tons more than in past. In Russian agricultural enterprises, pork production jumped by 7.9% (+ 206 thousand tons), to 2 million 827 thousand tons. In personal subsidiary farms, pork was received by 10.8% less (204 thousand tons), and in peasant farms - by 12.2% (17 thousand tons) than a year ago.

Negative dynamics in the workover segment

By October 1, the number of cattle in all categories of farms totaled 18.2 million animals, which is 1.8% (-327 thousand heads) less than in the same period last year. The number of cows decreased by 1.2% to 7.8 million heads.

Agricultural enterprises keep less than half (44%) of the cattle population, and over the year the number of animals in them decreased by another 79 thousand (-1%), to 8 million 63 thousand heads.

In terms of livestock growth, it is worth highlighting the Bryansk (+7.6%; +40.9 thousand heads) and Kaluga (+5.8%; +12.7 thousand heads) regions. A noticeable decline is in the Republic of Bashkortostan (-6.4%; -17.8 thousand heads) and the Orenburg Region (-9.3%; -17.7 thousand heads).

For the first nine months of this year, domestic farms of all categories produced 961 thousand tons of beef in slaughter weight (1687 thousand tons in live weight), which is 3.7% or 36.8 thousand tons less than in the same period last year of the year.

The industrial production of beef fell most noticeably - by 4.3% (-19.1 thousand tons), to 424 thousand tons, in household households it decreased by 3.9% (-17.2 thousand tons), to 422 thousand tons, while in peasant farms it remained practically unchanged.

Poultry production on the rise

In January-September, the volume of poultry meat production in Russia in all categories of farms amounted to 3 million 746 thousand tons in slaughter weight (5 million 97 thousand tons in live weight), which is 4.7% (168 thousand tons in slaughter weight ) higher than in the same period in 2021. Positive dynamics was observed in all districts, especially the Southern Federal District (+11.5%, or 34.3 thousand tons).

Agricultural organizations provide 94% of the total volume of poultry meat, and according to the results of the 3rd quarter, their production increased by 5% (+168 thousand tons), up to 3537 thousand tons. In the households, a slight increase in indicators was recorded - up to 176 thousand tons (+0.7%). As for peasant farms, during the period under review, the production of poultry meat fell by 3.1% (-1.1 thousand tons), to 20 thousand tons.

Less mutton znd lamb

As of October 1, the number of sheep and goats in all categories of farms remained virtually unchanged and totaled 22.5 million heads. The number of small cattle in agricultural organizations slightly decreased (-0.9%, or 30.8 thousand), to 3465 thousand heads.

The largest increase in livestock was noted in the Kursk (+24%; +14.6 thousand heads) and Tula region (+37.6%; +12.8 thousand heads), the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (+56%; +6 .4 thousand heads

The production of mutton and goat meat in all categories of farms amounted to 106 thousand tons in slaughter weight (234 thousand tons in live weight) - 1.4% (1.5 thousand tons in slaughter weight) less than was produced during that the same period last year.

Nevertheless, the rise is observed in the industrial production segment - by 3.5%, up to 9 thousand tons, and in peasant farms - by 3.5%, up to 33.2 thousand tons.
