Galina Bobyleva, Director General of Rosptitsesoyuz, has sharply criticized the proposal of the National Union of Meat Processors (NSM) to limit the export of poultry meat by introducing an export duty or quota.

In her speech at the international exhibition MAP Russia & VIV 2023, the head of the industry association of poultry farmers described the HCM initiative as, to put it mildly, short-sighted. Galina Bobyleva reminded the audience that Russia exports about 400,000 tons of poultry products, where 50% is the share of exports of chicken feet to China. She believes that it is necessary not to limit, but to develop both the system of external supplies and the assortment.

According to the Director General of Rosptitsesoyuz, the rise in prices for chicken, which meat processors refer to in their appeal to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, should be regarded as a seasonal phenomenon. If chicken eggs become cheaper after Easter, then poultry meat becomes more expensive, because it is an affordable and easy-to-cook product, she said, with the end of the fast and the beginning of the period of summer cottages, picnics and summer holidays, the demand for certain parts of the broiler carcass increases.

The executive director of the National Meat Association (NMA), Sergei Yushin, is also skeptical about the proposal to limit chicken exports. He noted that the prices for it have long been kept at a level below inflation, and even after the increase they are inferior to the world ones.
