From January 19, 2022, Rosselkhoznadzor is introducing a temporary ban on imports of animals and livestock products from Jordan. The worsening situation with regard to FMD in Jordan has triggered the decision.

As a reminder, from January 12, 2022, Russia has imposed the same restrictions on importation of livestock products from Palestine following an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the country. In addition, from January 12 Russia has put a temporary ban on importing animals and livestock products from Kazakhstan. The government of Kazakhstan has confirmed a new outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the Karagandinskaya Oblast.

“New measures have been introduced on the supply of live animals susceptible to foot and mouth disease including non-heat treated meat, milk, meat and dairy products,” explained Rosselkhoznadzor.

The ban also includes:

- wool, hair, bristle, trophies, raw intestines, animal hides and skins that did not undergo treatment to destroy the virus;

- genetic material (excluding in vivo replication);

- feed and feed additives of animal and plant origin (excluding finished pet food, pet birds etc.);

- used equipment for maintenance and slaughter of farm animals.

The transit of live animals susceptible to foot and mouth disease through Russia is also prohibited.
