In the first 6 months of 2023, Rosselkhoznadzor records record growth rates in livestock exports. According to the Argus information system, 174.4 thousand heads were delivered to foreign markets, which is almost 100% of the number of animals exported for the whole of 2022 - 175.5 thousand heads. The main share of supplies falls on small cattle and live pigs.

Sheep and goats

For 6 months of 2023, 80.6 were sent from Russia abroad. thousand heads of small cattle - 2 times more than in the same period in 2022, when this figure was 39.9 thousand heads.

Among the main importers of MRS is Azerbaijan, which increased its purchases 5 times this year to 53.9 thousand heads. For comparison, in the first half of 2022, the country purchased 10.3 thousand heads. Also, Georgia increased the import of MRS from Russia by more than 2 times.

Deliveries of MPC to foreign markets began in 2019. Azerbaijan became the first major buyer. Four years later, in 2022, Russia exported 49.3 thousand heads of small cattle already to 5 countries, including Jordan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Georgia and Lebanon.

Live pigs

In the first half of 2023, 80.1 thousand heads of pigs were exported, which is almost 2 times higher than in the same period in 2022 (42.7 thousand).

The main importer of live pigs is Georgia, this country accounts for 82% of the total volume (65.5 thousand). Armenia became the second in terms of the number of purchased animals this year, having increased imports by 5.6 times compared to the same period last year - from 2.5 thousand to 14.5 thousand heads.

The export of pigs has increased 35 times over the past 5 years. If in 2018 3.1 thousand heads were sent to foreign markets, then in 2022 this figure was 109.5 thousand heads.

Cattle

In January-June 2023, 13.6 thousand heads of cattle were sent to world markets, which is comparable to the volumes of the same period in 2022 - 13 thousand heads.

The main buyer of Russian cattle this year is Azerbaijan (59% of the total). 24% of all deliveries fall on Kazakhstan.

Deliveries of live cattle to the world markets are increasing every year. For comparison, 5 years ago, in 2018, Russia exported only 13.3 thousand heads of animals from Russia, most of which were cattle. MRS was not supplied to foreign markets. The export of pigs did not exceed 3.1 thousand heads.
