Russia has become the world's largest producer of pork, broiler and turkey meat, said Yury Kovalev, general director of the National Union of Russian Pig Breeders, on August 12 on the air of the program "From Mikoyan to Mamikonyan" on Vesti FM radio.

“Today we have reached fourth place in the world in terms of production, pork production is in fifth or fourth place, and poultry is about the same. The turkey is in third place, ”said Kovalev.

The difference in prices for pork and broiler will fluctuate at the level of 10%, but the main thing is that Russia will no longer return to the time when the difference between these types of meat was 50%, because the pig industry has entered the stage of "developed pig production", said the CEO National Union of Pig Breeders.

Recall that Russia has restored the pig industry from scratch. If at the beginning of the 2000s the country purchased about 40% of pork, now Russia has completely provided itself with this type of meat.
