Russia and China continue to actively develop trade in agricultural products, and this trend is only intensifying. Recently, a working meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergei Levin and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Russian Federation Zhang Hanhui, where important issues of cooperation in the agro-industrial complex were discussed.

Sergei Levin expressed satisfaction with the results of joint efforts to overcome the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in bilateral trade. In fact, trade turnover of agricultural products between Russia and China reached record levels, increasing by 40% last year. This positive trend opens up great prospects for further growth of cooperation.

An important event was the signing of the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Russian-Chinese Economic Cooperation until 2030, in which agriculture occupies a separate section. The implementation of this plan is expected to strengthen bilateral trade and strengthen the strategic partnership between Russia and China. Sergei Levin emphasized that Russia is interested in increasing the volume and expanding the list of goods exported to both countries.

Today, the greatest potential for export to China is represented by domestic grain products, meat, vegetable oils, fish and seafood, as well as finished products. A particularly significant event was the opening of Russian pork exports to China. Thanks to the joint efforts of the competent departments of both countries, the first batch of pork was sent to China on March 7. The Russian side hopes for a significant increase in supplies in the future.

At the end of the meeting, Sergei Levin expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for the productive dialogue, which made it possible to outline further steps in realizing the potential of interaction between Russia and China. Both sides confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation in this area.
