A meeting of the Russian-Mongolian Working Group on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture was held in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia).The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Maxim Uvaydov and Acting State Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia Tumuruyaa Zhambaltseren, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, Rosselkhoznadzor, and representatives of the Agrarian Office of the Republic of Mongolia.
Russia and Mongolia are productively cooperating in the field of agriculture, as well as in the field of veterinary and phytosanitary supervision and access of agricultural products to the markets of the two countries. The trade turnover of agricultural products between countries shows a positive trend. At the end of 2018, it grew by 20% and amounted to more than 226 million dollars. The Russian side is interested in increasing the supply of grain, fish, seafood and dairy products to Mongolia.
The agenda of the joint meeting also included issues related to the supply of leather raw materials from Mongolia to Russia, the creation of an animal breeding complex and a meat processing plant at the border of the countries, the export of Russian agricultural equipment for seasonal field work and the removal of restrictions on the supply of flour to Mongolia.
