On January 12, 2022, Rosselkhoznadzor is introducing a temporary ban on imports of genetic material, meat, milk, non-heat treated meat and dairy products, as well as feed and feed additives from Kazakhstan. The ban is due to an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Kazakhstan.

Animals susceptible to foot and mouth disease, including cats, dogs, circus and zoo animals are also banned from being imported by the Russian Federation. The transit of animals susceptible to foot and mouth disease through Russia is also prohibited. In addition, the equipment that was used on Kazakh farms and slaughterhouses is banned from being imported by Russia.

Since January 12, 2022, Russia has imposed the same restrictions on importation of livestock products and animals from Palestine following an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the country.
