According to the general director of the National Union of Poultry Farmers Sergei Lakhtyukhov, Russia exports about 1 thousand tons of chicken annually to a number of African countries. These deliveries are not one-time transactions, but rather stable transactions.
It is important to note that export volumes of meat products in general, including poultry meat, from Russia are growing rapidly. Exports have more than tripled over the past five years, reaching $1.438 billion in 2022, up from $0.41 billion in 2018. Poultry accounts for 57% of the export value structure, beef - 16%, and lamb - 1%.
China is one of the key importers of Russian meat products, with shipments worth $523 million. Also, significant volumes are exported to Belarus, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Vietnam and other countries.
Russian meat producers continue to increase their production volumes. In 2022, 11.744 million tons of meat products were produced, including chicken, beef and lamb. Chicken makes up 45% of total production, beef 14% and lamb 2%.
The export of poultry meat to Africa is an important direction for the Russian poultry industry. Russian manufacturers continue to strengthen their position in the international market and find new opportunities to expand exports. This allows not only to increase export revenues, but also contributes to the development of the industry as a whole.
