Taking to account the current weather conditions, APK-Inform Agency forecasts the production of grains and pulses at 125 mln tonnes in Russia in 2020, up 3% from the last year, informed the expert of the Agency, Irina Ozip during the on-line conference “Ukraine. Russia. Kazakhstan. Updates and forecasts”.
Particularly, the surplus of production is possible due to extension of the sown area to 47 mln ha compared to 46.7 mln ha in 2019/20 MY as well as possible yield increase. Thus, the average yield of grains could reach 2.72 t/ha compared to 2.67 t/ha this season.
As to the production of key grains, APK-Inform forecasts wheat crop at 77.9 mln tonnes (+5%), barley – 19.4 mln tonnes (-5%) and corn – 14.5 mln tonnes (+1%). Moreover, there could be growth of rye, oats, buckwheat and peas production.
Thus, the expert suppose that the current forecasts of the production of grains in Russia are rather positive and there are no marginal impact of major factors on future crop. However, the weather inequality increases risks and could lead to multiple revision of the forecasts.
