Negotiations on opening China to Russian pork are held regularly at all levels, the head of Rosselkhoznadzor said. Russia continues negotiations on opening the Chinese market for pork supplies. But in the export of meat, it is better to focus on finished products, says Sergey Dankvert, head of the Rosselkhoznadzor.

"Our trade turnover with China has increased significantly. But I would not do any figures or estimates of when (possible deliveries of pork to China - IF), and focus on the fact that we need to develop processing in our country and send processed products" , Dankvert told reporters in Moscow on Tuesday.

According to him, finished products are easier to send to any country, and there are fewer veterinary risks.

“But no one wants to do this. Everyone wants to cut the pork carcass in half and send it, although the producers of Spanish jamon earn billions from its supplies. And where is our Tambov ham, for example?” - he said.

According to the head of the service, "we need to ensure that we customize our processed products to the interests of the country where it is sent, or to make such types of products that are popular all over the world."

"And to say that pig production has stopped due to the fact that China is closed, I would say, this is a big exaggeration," he said.

Dankvert also said that quite large deliveries of pork to Belarus have recently begun, from where the Russian Federation receives a lot of finished products. “Today we need to focus on completely different things. And by the way, we can have effective interaction with many countries with which we are competitors. The first example is Belarus,” he said.

At the same time, he said that negotiations on opening China to Russian pork are regularly held at all levels.

“But the fact that Chinese colleagues prefer American pork, both Canadian and European to Russian, is also a fact. But our level of security is definitely higher today, and we are striving to prove this,” he said.
