During January-September of this year, supplies of lamb and goat meat abroad increased seven times from the same period last year. This was reported by Rosselkhoznadzor with reference to data from its Argus information system.
In particular, the largest importer of these types of meat is Iran, where their supplies increased by 7.5 times over the specified period. Note that this is due not only to local traditions of consuming this meat, similar to those in Russian Muslim regions, but also to cultural traditions, since a significant part of the supply is of the halal standard. Let us also recall that we previously wrote about a multiple increase in the supply of lamb from the Stavropol region.
The department also spoke about an increase in the indicator for other types of livestock and fish products. In particular, Kazakhstan, China and Saudi Arabia have significantly increased their purchases of poultry meat. Pork imports increased by seven percent in Armenia, Belarus, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Mongolia and Serbia. Traditionally, supplies of dairy products remain at a high level. Kazakhstan has especially actively increased its purchases - one and a half times from last year. Belarus is also increasing its imports. Exports of edible eggs increased 1.4 times, most noticeably to South Ossetia (nine times). The list of large buyers of this product also includes Kazakhstan and Mongolia. This is also the first time our country has started supplying it to Liberia. Fish products are imported to 50 countries of the world, among which China is the leader. Rosselkhoznadzor also noted a significant increase in the supply of live farm animals. In particular, it was possible to export 2.3 times more pigs, large and small livestock.
All of the listed countries, as in the case of beef and lamb, are long-time consumers of types of animal products supplied there from Russia (including halal standards).
