Russia continues to take a responsible and conscientious approach to fulfilling obligations under international contracts for the export of agricultural products, fertilizers, energy carriers and other critical products, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
"Our country continues to responsibly and conscientiously fulfill its obligations under international contracts regarding the export of agricultural products, fertilizers, energy carriers and other critical products. We are well aware of how significant this is for the socio-economic development of the countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, health, life and well-being of the peoples of these countries," she wrote in her telegram channel.
"This is confirmed by the initiatives put forward by President Vladimir Putin to donate tens of thousands of tons of Russian fertilizers (arrested in European ports), as well as grain (25-50 thousand tons of Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, Central African Republic, Eritrea) to those in need" Zakharova added.
According to forecasts, she noted, Russia will become one of the main suppliers of wheat in the 2022/23 agricultural year (45.5 million tons). At the same time, Ukraine is expected to supply only 14.5 million tons, Zakharova said.
"This is confirmed by experts from the British The Economist Intelligence Unit. They note that the harvest of wheat in Ukraine in the current agricultural year will decrease by 32% compared to 2021/2022 agricultural year to 22.5 million tons. In 2023/24 agricultural year this figure will be 19 million tons, and the volume of exports will fall further - to 10 million tons," the official representative of the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
