Rosselkhoznadzor is considering expanding the list of French suppliers to the Russian market of hatching eggs. This was reported by the department’s press service following negotiations during the 91st annual General Session of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
The final decision will be made after reviewing data received from France on how highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) is controlled. In particular, we are talking about measures to track eggs and other poultry products, as well as to prevent the spread of the virus in the country and neighboring countries. The French side reported that the successful implementation of the vaccination program led to a decrease in the number of AIV outbreaks and helped the country restore its disease-free status. This information is currently being verified.
The department also said that it is closely monitoring the development of the situation regarding this most dangerous disease throughout the world. “The current restrictions are updated on an ongoing basis and the list of foreign enterprises that have the right to supply hatching eggs to Russia is updated,” his message says.
In addition, the parties discussed the supply of French feed for various types of animals. The Russian service is analyzing materials received from the competent authorities of France on the correction of violations identified during the last inspection of French enterprises in November last year. In the near future, Russian specialists will also send a request to their French colleagues to provide additional information necessary to complete and prepare the final report on the inspection. Rosselkhoznadzor also recalled that several French enterprises already have the right to supply their feed to the Russian market.
