In Russia, food labeling may soon appear, which, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), are harmful. Izvestia writes about this with reference to the minutes of the June meeting of the Council under the government on issues of guardianship in the social sphere.

It is proposed to introduce a special designation for products in which the content of harmful substances and calories exceeds the established norm. This mark will be located on the front side of the package.

Thus, according to WHO recommendations, this list may include meat products made using salting, curing, smoking and other processes to improve or preserve the taste, or cooked on a grill or fire. Soda and energy drinks, products with a high content of trans fats, sweets, and pastries will probably go there as well.

As a result of the meeting, the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova were formed. The Cabinet of Ministers also began to work on the issue of including obesity in the list of socially significant diseases, which now includes cancer, HIV, tuberculosis, diabetes and others.
