With the Chinese market, total Russian pork exports could reach 400-500 thousand tons per year.

The National Union of Pork Producers estimates that Russian pork exports to China could reach 150-200 thousand tons per year. With the addition of the Chinese market, total Russian pork exports could reach 400-500 thousand tons per year. In 2023 the Union forecasts the volume to be 250 thousand tons.

Rosselkhoznadzor reports that according to the agreements reached with China, Russia is expected to start supplying pork to China a month from the date of signing the protocol on inspection, quarantine, and veterinary and sanitary requirements for pork from the Russian Federation. The protocol was signed on December 19, 2023.
