According to the forecast of the National Union of Poultry Farmers (NSP), this year Russia may export 280 thousand tons of poultry products, which is 33% more than in 2019. Last year, our country took the fifth place in the world in the production of poultry meat and 17th in its export, said the general director of the union Sergei Lakhtyukhov during a joint seminar of the Agroexport center and the Russian Agricultural Bank. The strategic goal is to enter the top 10 largest world poultry meat suppliers, the head of the union noted.

Now deliveries are open to more than 50 countries, and more than half of them potentially require the provision of a halal certificate for products. The volume of the world market for halal products last year amounted about $ 1.17 trillion. The world market for poultry meat produced in accordance with Shariah requirements is estimated at 12-18 million tons, the Russian market - at 650 thousand tons (excluding freezing and processed products). The “halal” product segment is considered one of the fastest growing in the world, and such products are chosen not only by adherents of Islam, but also by secular consumers who consider them to be of higher quality, the NSP notes.

During the seminar, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sergey Levin said that Russia has good prerequisites for increasing exports of halal poultry products. “This market is growing very quickly and steadily. By 2023, it is expected to increase to nearly $ 2.9 trillion. At the same time, in the composition of these products, the part of them that is subject to certification as "halal" already exceeded $ 220 billion in 2018. And we expect that by 2024 this volume will increase one and a half times - up to $ 320-330 billion”. Levin recalled that Russia supplies halal products to the countries of the Persian Gulf, the Middle East, North Africa, while such large markets as Indonesia and Malaysia are undeveloped.
