As of April 15, Russian farmers planted spring agricultural crops throughout the general areas of 1.7 mln ha or 3.4% of the forecast, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

In particular, farmers planted spring grains throughout 1.2 mln ha or 4.1% of the forecasted area, including wheat - 155.5 thsd ha or 1.2% of the forecast, barley - 568.1 thsd ha or 7.4%, corn for grain - 2.8 thsd ha or 0.1%.

Farmers planted spring rapeseed throughout 6.7 thsd ha or 0.5% of the plan, sunflower seed - 70.2 thsd ha or 0.8%.

As of the reporting date, farmers planted sugar beet throughout 117.2 thsd ha or 11% of the plan.

In addition, agrarians applied additional fertilizers to winter grains throughout 11.5 mln ha or 59.4% of the planted area.
