Rosselkhoznadzor visited Oman from August 15 to 17, where he held a series of meetings and negotiations with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of the Sultanate and subordinate diagnostic and research institutes in the field of animal health and food safety.
During the visit, the parties discussed issues of mutual access to products of animal origin. In particular, the Omani side confirmed that the process of certification of two Russian enterprises for the production of poultry meat is actually completed, in the near future the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of Oman will send information on the successful coordination of this issue.
In turn, the Service submitted for consideration by foreign colleagues a program of a visit to Russia to inspect other enterprises interested in supplying meat and meat products to the Omani market, thus initiating the procedure for obtaining access for other Russian suppliers.
The Omani side stressed the importance of establishing direct contact between enterprises interested in exporting and importers in Oman, whose application to the competent service of the Sultanate is the first and mandatory step to start considering applications from potential suppliers.
This inspection is planned to be held in September-October 2022, including participation in the 24th Golden Autumn Agro-Industrial Exhibition.
In addition, in view of the importance of establishing cooperation on the integration of electronic veterinary certification systems to ensure traceability in mutual trade in products of animal origin, the parties agreed to include a technical specialist in the Omani delegation.
During the negotiations, the Veterinary Quarantine Department confirmed the receipt of draft certificates for the import of animal feed from Russia and said that it would soon submit its comments on this issue, as well as send veterinary and sanitary requirements for these products.
Also, during the visit, representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor conducted an inspection of a fish processing enterprise interested in supplying its products to the EAEU market.
