Russia can bring the production of turkey meat to 700 thousand tons by 2030, according to a press release from the National Association of Turkey Producers (NAPI) at the first congress of this industry association.
In 2020, the production of turkey meat reached a record level and compared to the previous year - it increased by 20%, to 329.665 thousand tons. This year, NAPI also forecasts growth by 20%, up to 400 thousand tons. But this figure can be achieved if avian influenza won`t be spread on the Russian territory, the press release says.
Currently, there are more than 20 large producers of turkey meat in the Russian Federation. Market leaders are GK Damate, Krasnobor, PK Ural, RuskomAgro, Tambovskaya Turkey. They account for about 80% of turkey meat production.
As the consulting agency Agrifood Strategies reported, in the first half of this year in all categories of farms in the Russian Federation, the production of turkey meat amounted to 172,310 tons, which is 6.3% more than in the same period last year. The agency also predicts this year's production of almost 400 thousand tons, which will bring Russia closer to the first place in Europe and the second in the world among the producers of turkey meat.
