This year, Russia will retain its leadership in wheat exports. The President of the country, Vladimir Putin, stated this at the XIX Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, TASS reports.
The head of state recalled that the country had a good crop harvest this year. He, as before, estimated the potential for its supplies abroad at 60 million tons. The day before, First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Agriculture Oksana Lut provided her data. According to her, farmers have already harvested 147 million tons of grain, and she estimated the export potential at 65 million tons
The preliminary harvest will be the second in Soviet and post-Soviet history after last year, when about 158 million tons of grain were obtained (including more than 90 million tons of wheat), and exports were a record.
The president also spoke about similar successes in other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EurAsEC). He noted that these states have reached a level of self-sufficiency in most agricultural goods. In addition, Putin promised that Russia will continue to provide the Kazakh market with important types of food in accordance with the internal needs of the republic.
