Russia may start deliveries of livestock and fishery products to Namibia. In addition, the countries discussed the possibility of recognizing Russian vaccines for animals, their registration and sale in Namibia.

The issues of the supply of livestock products and veterinary vaccines were discussed by representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor of Russia and the competent departments of Namibia at the Gulfood 2023 international food exhibition, Rosselkhoznadzor reports. The parties are also considering the possibility of cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine, in particular, the prevention of dangerous livestock diseases, the report says.

Namibia is interested in the supply of livestock products from Russia, in particular, meat, poultry and fish, the Rosselkhoznadzor noted. In addition, Russia is ready to supply veterinary vaccines to Namibia when they pass the necessary stages of registration. The parties also agreed on the mutual recognition of electronic veterinary certificates.

Russia sees great potential in scientific and technical cooperation with Namibia in the field of veterinary supervision, the ministry explained, for example, in the field of maintaining international statuses of freedom from foot-and-mouth disease in cattle. In order to develop these relations, representatives of the department invited a delegation from Namibia to visit Russian laboratories and veterinary institutes.

In particular, representatives of Namibia will be glad to see the Russia-Africa Economic Forum in July 2023, the Rosselkhoznadzor noted.
