On June 9, Vladimir Bulavin, Head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, and Christian Bock, General Director of the Swiss Federal Customs Administration, held a working meeting in Moscow. The Swiss delegation is visiting the Russian Federation from June 7 to 11.

During the meeting, the parties discussed pressing issues of bilateral cooperation in customs policy and its prospects for further development. They also confirmed their readiness for cooperation to ensure an efficient customs control of the Russian-Swiss trade, including the enhancement of its security and legality as well as the creation of favorable conditions for participants in foreign economic operations.

At the end of the meeting, the Federal Customs Service of Russia and the Swiss Federal Customs Administration signed the Memorandum of Cooperation in customs affair and the 2021-2022 Cooperation Plan for expanding joint efforts between the two countries in customs operations.

In addition, in the framework of the visit to Russia, the Swiss delegation will be introduced to Russia’s main achievements in digitalization and the use of advanced customs technologies.

Vladimir Bulavin pointed out that the Russian customs authority is sufficiently equipped with digitalization tools. “Nearly all customs operations are digitalized today. We use a complete electronic declaration method for processing transits and releasing products. The more customs processes are covered by digitalization, the greater transparence is in customs operations and the higher is trust between key operators,” he said.

During the visit, the Swiss delegation attended the Moscow Region’s Electronic Declarations Center. A visit is scheduled for June 10 to St. Petersburg to review the work of customs agencies in the North-Western District.
