According to early estimates, Russian beef exports may exceed 40 thousand tons in 2022, says Vladimir Kravchenko, an expert at the Center for Agroanalytics.

“Given the growing demand for Russian products in China, this figure may turn out to be even higher. Other markets, such as Vietnam, Chana, Hong Kong, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and other foreign markets, as well as those of the EAEU member states, will also be quite promising in the years to come,” the analyst noted in his review.

Russia exported 36,9 thousand tons of beef and offal in 2021. In the first 5 months of 2022, exports reached almost 16 thousand tons in volumes, and $104.1 million in value.

According to the expert, the growth of Russian beef supplies to foreign markets is primarily due to gaining access to the Chinese market in 2020 and to geographical shifts in supply.

“In 2021, more than half of Russian beef and offal were shipped to China. Exports to Morocco started in 2022. This year has seen a significant expansion of supply chains,” Vladimir Kravchenko explained.

He also said that along with Russian beef entering new markets, the range of exported products is growing. Thus, supplies of frozen boneless beef and beef cuts were the highest in terms of volume. In 2021, their shipments amounted to 338 tons, while at the end of 2020 the figure was 221 tons. Exports of these products in the first 5 months of the current year reached 97 tons.
