Vessels loaded with Ukrainian food do not go to countries in need of food, but to the West, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Ivan Nechaev said at a briefing.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned the West against attempts to disrupt the agreements reached in Istanbul on a “product deal”.
“Unfortunately, so far not a single ship with grain has reached the starving countries of Africa, they go mainly to western ports, and the range of exported goods is mainly not wheat, but corn grain, sunflower oil, which casts doubt on the sincerity of the voiced on The West of theses that the world food security depends on the grain deal,” RIA Novosti quotes Nechaev.
He noted that the "product deal" is bilateral in nature and provides for a reciprocal provision in favor of the Russian Federation: "the normalization of Russian exports."
“In fact, this means that the issue of the export of Ukrainian grain and the normalization of Russian exports should be resolved in conjunction with each other,” added the deputy head of the department.
Moscow intends to fulfill its obligations and is determined to "effectively implement the Istanbul agreements," Nechaev said.
In Istanbul, on July 22, a multilateral agreement was signed on lifting restrictions on the supply of products from the Russian Federation and on Russia's assistance in the export of Ukrainian grain.
The deal, which was signed by representatives of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN, involves the export of Ukrainian grain, food and fertilizer across the Black Sea from three ports, including Odessa.
