The demand for domestically produced veterinary drugs is steadily growing, and Russian manufacturers of veterinary drugs are increasing production volumes accordingly. In the near future, the industry is ready to enter into complete import substitution, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
Director of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Maria Novikova discussed with industry representatives the issues of import substitution of veterinary drugs within the framework of the all-Russian meeting “Implementation of digital technologies in veterinary medicine.” In the message, a representative of the department noted the successful growth of production in this industry, which meets the requests of livestock farmers.
Russian manufacturers are ready to replace most imported drugs by 100%, a department representative explained. At the same time, consumer demand for domestically produced veterinary drugs is growing, she noted.
Let us recall that in 2023, many manufacturers of veterinary drugs increased production capacity in response to market demands. For example, the manufacturer of veterinary preparations and feed additives Apicenna decided to invest 300 million rubles in an enterprise near Moscow in the fall of this year. Due to the new capacities, the production of veterinary drugs at the enterprise will be increased to 380 tons per year.
