Russia is increasing the volume of meat and fish to Singapore, TASS reports with reference to the materials of the eighth forum “Russian-Singapore Business Dialogue”.
In his speech at the intergovernmental event, Russian Trade Representative in Singapore Mikhail Bondarenko noted that less than 1% of the island city-state is occupied by agriculture, so Singapore is heavily dependent on food imports.
According to Bondarenko, Russian suppliers have made significant progress in the Singapore market in the segments of frozen poultry, semi-finished products, and cereals. The process of harmonizing certificates for pork and beef has been launched. He considers the export of fish and seafood to be the most promising area for the development of foreign trade cooperation: at the end of last year, the volume of supplies was estimated at $1 billion.
