Russian organic products are officially recognized in Qatar. Domestic organic producers can now freely export their goods to Qatar.
The production of organic products in Russia is a promising area of agriculture, which also opens up wide opportunities for export, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. To increase the supply of Russian organics to foreign markets, it is necessary to achieve recognition of the domestic “organic product” certificate at the official level, and as of September 2023, Russian farmers received such recognition from Qatar, Roskachestvo said in a statement.
Negotiations on the mutual recognition of organic certificates from Roskachestvo and the competent authorities of Qatar began in July 2023, the statement said. Together, the parties achieved the inclusion of the Roskachestvo-Organic certification body in the guidelines from the Ministry of Health of Qatar, which guide importers of organics in the country. This recognition was the first step in developing the organic markets of the Middle East and Southeast Asia, according to Roskachestvo experts. Now Roskachestvo is conducting similar negotiations with representatives of other countries in the region, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Roskachestvo also noted that exporters who undergo certification through Roskachestvo can receive a “made in Russia” mark, which will open up additional export opportunities.
There are currently 165 registered producers of organic products in Russia, the report says. Among the organic goods produced by Russian producers are cereals, fruits and vegetables, milk and meat, and other products. There is demand for these goods both domestically and abroad.
