Experts expect pork production in Russia to grow by 400 thousand tons per year until 2025. Thus, the production of domestic pork over this period will increase by more than 1 million tons, and pork consumption per capita - up to 32 kg per person.

Russian pig breeders can increase meat production by more than 1 million tons in live weight by 2025, says Yuri Kovalev, head of the National Union of Pig Breeders. The expert's report states that, according to the forecasts of the union, only the top 20 of all pork producers in Russia will increase production by 1 million tons over this period. In general, pork production will grow by 200-400 thousand tons per year in the next three years.

Experts expect that such an increase in production will affect both exports and domestic consumption of pork. Thus, exports are expected to double, from 200 to 400 thousand tons per year. In the domestic market, wholesale prices for meat will decrease, which means that products will become more affordable for consumers and the average level of meat consumption per capita will grow. By 2025, it will be 32 kg per capita, experts say.

At the same time, experts noted that the epizootic situation, as well as a reduction in production at obsolete livestock complexes and in private farms, will affect the production of pork.
