MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. The volume of Russian agricultural exports to China in 2022 increased by 44%, China became the largest buyer of domestic agricultural products, according to the statement from the Federal Center for Export Development Agroexport under the Ministry of Agriculture.

"Following the results of 2022, Russia increased exports of agricultural products to China by 44% in terms of value. The physical volume of deliveries increased by 36%," the statement said.

According to Agroexport, such dynamics have allowed China to reclaim its position as the leading consumer of Russian agricultural and food products, which it had lost in 2021. China is still the largest importer of Russian rapeseed oil, chicken meat, beef, soybeans, oats, and flaxseeds, and it is also the largest consumer of Russian honey and flaxseed oil. According to preliminary data from the Federal Customs Service, Russian shipments of rapeseed oil to China will double in physical terms and 2.4-fold in monetary terms throughout 2022, the report said. As a result, China received over 70% of all Russian rapeseed oil exports.

Furthermore, according to Agroexport, shipments of fish and seafood from Russia to China surged dramatically in 2022, with a total volume surpassing 500,000 metric tons. The physical volume of frozen fish exports rose by 46%, while revenue grew by 68%. Shellfish exports to China increased by 30% compared to 2021.

Meanwhile, 139,000 metric tons of poultry meat were delivered to China in 2018, an increase of 11% from 2021, Agroexport noted. In monetary terms, the rate of growth was 53%. Thus, China maintained its leading position among consumers of Russian poultry meat, accounting for almost 40% of total physical volume of Russian poultry meat exports in 2022 (compared to 42% in 2021). Soybean shipments to China remained at the level of 2021, with exports revenue rosing by 55%.

Russia, according to Agroexport, has the potential to increase food supply to China, with fish and seafood, cereals, animal products, and vegetable oils being one of the most promising sectors.
