All news / SERBIA REFUSED TO SUPPORT ANTI-RUSSIAN SANCTIONS

  • 28 Feb 2022, 08:25

Belgrade refused to join Western anti-Russian countries, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, RIA Novosti reports. Vucic reminded that Serbia itself was under Western sanctions. Until now, the restrictions apply to the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he recalled.

Serbia believes that sanctions against any state or its representatives does not correspond to the political and economic interests of the country.

At the same time, the country's authorities support the principle of the territorial integrity of all states, including Ukraine, Vucic said.

The Serbian President added that Moscow not only refused to support sanctions against Serbia, but defended against them. Now she is supporting the Kosovo issue at the UN.

The Western states tried to convince the Serbian authorities that Russia's actions in Ukraine are contrary to international law, said the head of the Serbian parliament, Ivica Dacic. But the West does not want to remember Kosovo and Metohija, where international law was also violated. If Belgrade comes out with a condemnation of Russia, it will not be able to return Kosovo and will not restore the principle of territorial integrity. He noted that only Moscow responded to Serbia's requests for help over the past decades.
