On April 6, 2023, the Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Russia Rodrigo Baena Soares.

The parties positively assessed the development of trade between the two countries in the current geopolitical and economic conditions, noting the great potential for their further development, taking into account the membership of Russia and Brazil in the BRICS.

Sergey Dankvert announced the visit of the Russian delegation to Brazil scheduled for April 15-22 in order to sign a protocol on scientific and technical cooperation in the field of prevention, control and eradication of diseases of aquaculture fish species, as well as monitoring the safety of aquaculture products between the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VGNKI" subordinated to Rosselkhoznadzor ” and research agricultural corporation EMBRAPA, which is part of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

During the trip, a meeting is also expected with representatives of the Brazilian association "National Union of Animal Health Products Manufacturers" (Sindan Sindicato) and a study visit to Brazilian enterprises producing vaccines for animals and birds, which in the foreseeable future may replace products that have left the Russian market western companies.

The key topic of the meeting was the removal of restrictions on the import of meat products from the state of Para to Russia. Rosselkhoznadzor assessed the restrictions as excessive, revising them in accordance with the recommendations of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), and resumed the admission of meat products from the above state.

The parties also agreed on the dates for the visit of the Russian delegation to audit the Brazilian laboratories involved in seed research. It will take place from 24 to 28 April.

In addition, an agreement was reached on mutual inspections of livestock enterprises. Rosselkhoznadzor will inspect Brazilian companies producing dairy and meat products, the Brazilian veterinary service will inspect Russian fish enterprises in video format, in particular, cod production. Rosselkhoznadzor is currently preparing lists of companies interested in exporting fish products to Brazil.

At the end of the talks, Sergei Dankvert thanked Rodrigo Baena Soares for the constructive dialogue and expressed hope for the implementation of the plans outlined in the development of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Brazil.
