Electronic certification should be used as part of the development of trade relations between countries to provide the framework for monitoring the safety of food product supplies. This was declared by Sergey Dankvert, head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, as he spoke at the round table on “Economic development of cooperation in the North-South international transport corridor: road transport as an important part of multimodal transportation".
The round table was held within the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2023).
“We aim to move away from paper health certificates, although they are still widely used in international trade. Regarding the countries in question (the Middle East countries, V&L), we have to switch to electronic certification. In fact, all information on laboratory tests of exported or imported products must be available in digital systems,” said Sergey Dankvert.
According to him, digital quality and safety control systems for the exported products should be present in any country interested in overseas supplies. “Being an exporter supplying products to Iran, for instance, we must make sure that our partners in Iran are confident in the safety of the supplied products,” added the head of the service.
