Rosselkhoznadzor has limited the supply of poultry products from 4 US states to Russia due to outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza. This is stated in the message of the department.
"From May 31, 2022, Rosselkhoznadzor, in connection with the next outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the United States, introduces temporary restrictions on the supply of live poultry and poultry products to Russia from the states of Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma and New Jersey. In addition, transit through Russia is limited live bird," the statement said.
As recalled in the Russian department, the United States is experiencing the largest outbreak of the disease in the last seven years. The virus has wiped out about 40 million chickens and turkeys on commercial poultry farms. In 2022, the country has officially confirmed 217 outbreaks of avian influenza at agricultural enterprises in 26 states.
In total, at the moment, the export of poultry products to Russia is limited from 27 states: South Carolina, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Maine, New York, North Dakota, North Carolina, Texas, Colorado, Montana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Idaho, Utah, Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma, New Jersey.
