After the partial mobilization was announced in Russia, the demand for products in the Canned Meat category on the Wildberries marketplace increased: sales in this segment from September 20 to September 30 increased by 287% compared to the previous ten-day period.
In total, in September 2022, the sales volume of the Canned Meat category at Wildberries amounted to 36.5 million rubles, and the number of orders reached 44,227 pieces. The average check for this purchase amounted to 2.5 thousand rubles.
In September last year, the Russians bought 15.1 thousand canned meat at Wildberries for the amount of 5.6 million rubles. And the average check was 1.2 thousand rubles.
It should be noted that the number of suppliers of canned meat at Wildberries increased from 205 in September 2021 to 527 in September 2022.
The most popular canned meat among Russians during partial mobilization
From September 20 to September 30, the most popular canned meat at Wildberries was VKUSMACHEV brand beef stew in a package of 15 cans. The second place was taken by canned meat of the EcoProd brand, sealed in 12 pieces. And the top three is closed by pork stew of the Russian brand Nasha!, also sold on the marketplace in 12 pieces per pack.
In September 2022, the top canned meat looked different:
beef stew brand "Meat Garant", 12 pieces per pack;
a hunter's set of different types of stew from the company "Baltic Okhota", 6 pcs in a package;
canned pork brand "Gostovsky Product", 2 pcs per pack.
Perhaps this is due to the fact that citizens called up for military service on partial mobilization were advised to take bouillon cubes with them so that they could quickly make broth along with the stew. Analysts expected that with an increase in demand in the “Seasoning” category, the demand should be exactly bouillon cubes, but during the period of demand for stew, namely from September 20 to September 30, seasonings were in demand: universal seasoning for 24 pieces per pack, universal seasoning for chicken 16 pieces per package and seasoning for meat and pilaf. All of the same Kooh brand. The amount of orders for September 2022 in this category amounted to 50.6 million rubles, in September 2021 - 20.7 million rubles.
