The first organization for cattle embryo transplantation appeared in the Vologda region, created on the basis of the Vologda branch of Alta Genetics Russia LLC. According to the Department of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Vologda Region, in October the status of the organization was confirmed by the Ministry of Agriculture.

“The embryo transfer method will allow for the accelerated reproduction of highly productive cows, from which several dozen calves can be produced in a calendar year,” said the Vologda Agricultural Department.

In addition, in the Vologodsky branch of Alta Genetics Russia LLC, thanks to the use of modern equipment and progressive working methods, the production of embryos will be ensured, which will increase the genetic potential of cows.

As experts point out, the technology of cattle embryo transplantation is one of the most progressive methods of improving the breed and productive qualities of animals. It allows you to significantly increase the number of offspring from the best cows. In addition, breeding herds can be created in a short time.

Embryo transplantation itself is a biotechnical method of accelerated selection process for improving livestock over a number of generations. It is especially widely used to obtain stud bulls with outstanding breeding value. For example, in Canada and the USA, up to 95-98% of sires are obtained using this method.

If in a natural way a cow, after entering puberty, can reproduce several calves during her life, then, thanks to the transplantation of embryos taken from a cow that has genetic value, it is possible to obtain a large number of offspring with the same genetic data.
