Current trends in the development of veterinary medicine and ensuring epizootic well-being were discussed during the round table “Veterinary Service 2.0” at the 24th All-Russian Agro-Industrial Exhibition “Golden Autumn - 2022”.The main livestock regions of Russia have increased financial support for veterinary services

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Uvaydov, head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert, deputy chairmen of regional governments, representatives of territorial departments of Rosselkhoznadzor, industry associations and universities - more than 300 people in total.

At the round table, the participants considered the most significant epizootic threats and joint work to ensure the biological safety of the livestock sector. In particular, issues of forming a personnel reserve for the veterinary industry, strategies for the development of regional veterinary services, as well as measures to prevent the spread of animal diseases in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation were discussed.

It is of great importance to conduct regular exercises to eliminate foci of diseases. Maxim Uvaydov stressed that this work should be carried out in full, together with the Rosselkhoznadzor, universities, as well as the leadership of rural settlements and businesses. In addition, it is necessary to organize "hot lines" for prompt response to emerging incidents.

The Deputy Minister dwelled separately on the financial support of veterinary services.

In particular, thanks to the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture over the past four years, a number of regions have increased budget funding. In addition, the department annually purchases medicines and diagnostics for anti-epizootic measures, and together with the subjects implements a project to create conditions for obtaining accreditation by veterinary laboratories. At the same time, it is important to increase the number of diagnostic measures, especially in traditional livestock regions.

The measures taken will contribute to the development of Russian animal husbandry, as well as ensuring the food security of the country.
