The dynamics of prices in the food market corresponds to seasonal trends, and the increase in the cost of fruits and vegetables in January is traditional. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
"This is due to a decrease in the supply of open ground vegetables on the market and an increase in demand during the New Year holidays," the agency explained.
In addition, thanks to a good harvest in 2022, selling prices for a number of categories are even lower than last year. Thus, as of January 11, prices for cabbage decreased by 55.9% year-on-year, for carrots - by 18.8%, for potatoes and table beets - by 35.6% and 27.1%, respectively.
Pork fell in price by 4.4%, poultry meat - by 3.7%, eggs of the first and second categories in annual terms - by 4.7% and 2.5%, respectively.
