The production of cattle in live weight this year is at a level comparable to last year, the Ministry of Agriculture reported. The ministry predicts an increase in Russian beef production by the end of the current year.

“The current structure of the market for meat and meat products allows us to predict an increase in the volume of beef in 2022,” the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry noted that the introduction of zero import duties helped stabilize prices for this type of meat. “With the help of this measure, it was possible to ensure the availability of beef for Russian consumers and to contain the rate of growth in prices for it against the backdrop of a significant increase in production costs. At the same time, there has been no decrease in selling prices for cattle since the beginning of the year,” the ministry said.

The ministry added that state support measures provided to farmers help maintain stable prices on the market.

“Cattle breeders are reimbursed for the costs of production, the purchase of young animals, the technological modernization of facilities, and the improvement of work in the field of livestock breeding. A preferential lending mechanism is in demand - producers can receive loans for the purchase of feed, equipment, veterinary drugs, the construction and modernization of livestock complexes, ”explained representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture.
