The co-chairmen of the Russian-Serbian Working Group on Agriculture Sergey Levin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia, and Bogdan Igic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia, held a meeting on April 13.

They discussed the expansion of agricultural trade and plans for joint events in 2021.

Agricultural trade between the countries increased by 7% to 516 million dollars last year. Sergey Levin stressed that the main focus for the development of bilateral cooperation is to increase export volumes and diversify the products supplied. This will be facilitated, among other things, by the export of domestic dairy and livestock products to the Serbian market. The exports of Russian confectionery products are also promising.

Another topic addressed at the meeting was the arrangement of a joint business mission in 2021, during which negotiations between agricultural market participants from the two countries are scheduled to take place. The event will help Russian and Serbian business representatives to establish direct contacts, contributing to the bilateral trade expansion.
