The growth of agricultural production in the Russian Federation this year may reach 3.5%, predict the Ministry of Agriculture.
“If we talk about preliminary forecasts for production in the industry this year, I would like to note that we expect the agricultural production index to be at the level of 103.5%,” said Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev at a meeting chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.
Patrushev took part in a meeting via video link from Tyumen, where Damate Group, the leading producer of turkey meat in the Russian Federation, introduced a breeding turkey reproducer in the Tyumen region, an investment in which amounted to 6.1 billion rubles.
According to the minister, the volumes and range of goods produced by the industry allow meeting domestic needs for basic types of food. “Therefore, I draw your attention to the fact that we do not have the need to use the so-called parallel imports in agriculture today. I also note that the Russian Federation has maintained the status of a net food exporter for the third year,” he said. “At the moment, the volume of external supplies already exceeds $33 billion , according to the year, exports can be about $ 40 billion.
Patrushev stressed that, in general, the food market in the country is fully provided with its own oil and fat, meat, fish products, sugar and pasta, cereals and many other goods. "For the 9th month, we are seeing an increase in production volumes and we expect the positive trend to continue," he said.
As for the supply of milk, as Patrushev noted, "within the framework of the Union State, together with Belarusian products, we achieve full supply of milk as well."
