At the end of October this year, the number of cattle (cattle) decreased by 1.7% compared to October 2022, according to the Rosstat report on the socio-economic situation in Russia.

At the end of October 2023, the number of cattle on the farms of all agricultural producers, according to Rosstat calculations, amounted to 17.7 million heads, which is 1.7% less than the corresponding date of the previous year. Including cows, there were 7.7 million head at the end of October, which is 1.4% less than in October 2022.

But the number of pigs on Russian farms is growing. At the end of October, there were 28.7 million pigs, which is 1.5% more than in October 2022.

Sheep and goats decreased by 1.6%; the number of small ruminants at the end of October was 21.4 million.

In October 2023, compared to October 2022, the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight increased by 3.7%, milk - by 4.7%. But egg production decreased by 1.2%.

Milk yield per cow in January–October 2023 amounted to 7188 kilograms compared to 6838 kilograms in January–October 2022. The egg production of laying hens was 260 eggs compared to 262 a year ago.

By the beginning of November 2023, the supply of livestock with feed per 1 conventional head of livestock in agricultural organizations is 8.4% higher than at the corresponding date of the previous year.
