In July, the average price of a kilogram of chicken meat reached 196.93 rubles, which is a historical record. This became known from Rosstat data.
According to the department’s statistics, the current cost of chicken is much higher than the previous high in April 2022 — 190.85 rubles per kg. In June, the average cost of a chicken was 193.48 rubles, it increased by 6.8% over the month.
According to the analytics company Emeat, chicken is sold at higher prices in stores. So, a chicken carcass in June in retail cost an average of 270 rubles per kg. The price range is quite extensive - from 200 to 350 rubles per kilogram, said Lyubov Savkina, CEO of Emeat.
Albert Davleev, President of the consulting company Agrifood Strategies, specified that the price of chicken is rising due to the increase in the cost of feed additive components (for example, soybean meal), consumables and equipment. According to him, against this background, manufacturers are raising prices so that the margin allows them to work further.
According to the National Union of Pig Producers, the share of poultry meat in total consumption is 44.3%, or almost 35 kg per person. According to this indicator, poultry meat occupies a leading position among the main types of meat.
According to a poll by the Public Opinion Foundation, 35% of Russians noticed an increase in prices for meat in June, about a third - for milk and dairy products, and 29% saw an increase in prices for fish and seafood.
