In 2023, the number of profitable organizations in the agricultural sector increased by 0.6 percentage points - to 86.7%. However, the profitability of agricultural production is falling, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Elena Fastova told reporters.

In 2023, the average profitability taking into account subsidies was 18.9% (without them - 15.5%). In 2022, profitability was estimated at 20.3%.

“This is logical. Prices for agricultural products are not rising as much as costs are rising,” she explained.

At the same time, livestock farmers feel a little better, since feed prices are low. And plant growers are worse for the same reason - because grain prices are low.

According to the deputy minister’s forecasts, in 2024 the profitability of agricultural production will remain at the same level. “There are a lot of risks for agriculture. Therefore, profitability should be no lower than 20%,” she noted.

The revenue of agricultural organizations at the end of 2023 amounted to almost 5 trillion rubles. - 6.6% higher than in 2022.
