The turnover of the capital's food producers in January — February 2023 increased by 22.6% compared to the same period in 2022 in nominal terms and reached 94.6 billion rubles. This was announced by Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations.

"Food production is one of the key industries in Moscow. The turnover of companies from this sector in the first two months of this year increased by 22.6% in nominal terms — up to 94.6 billion rubles. About 28% of the total volume was provided by enterprises engaged in processing and preserving meat and meat food products — 26.3 billion rubles. Dairy producers earned almost 12.5 billion rubles, or more than 13%. The turnover of manufacturers of bakery and flour confectionery products for the same time exceeded 12.4 billion rubles," said Vladimir Efimov.

The capital's enterprises are increasing the output of goods, filling the niches vacated after the departure of foreign brands from Russia and providing Moscow with products. Over the past year, the share of such companies in the total turnover of the city's manufacturing industry increased by 0.6 percentage points and reached almost 4%. The share of the capital's enterprises in the all-Russian turnover of the industry was 6.6%.

According to the Department of Economic Policy and Development of the City of Moscow, the growth leaders in January — February 2023 were companies engaged in the production of ready-made feed for domestic and farm animals: compared to the same period in 2022, their revenue increased almost 3.7 times in nominal terms.

Enterprises specializing in the processing and canning of fruits and vegetables have more than doubled their turnover in nominal terms, and in the processing and canning of fish — by 73%.

For food producers in Moscow, there is a wide range of anti-crisis support measures that have been developed for industry and for the whole business as a whole. It includes preferential loans, grants for the development of import-substituting products, the opportunity to rent land from the city at a preferential rate of one ruble per year during the construction of production facilities as part of large-scale investment projects, and other tools.
