Poultry and egg production in Russia has already exceeded demand by at least 3%. This was announced to the portal explain.rf by the General Director of the National Union of Poultry Farmers Sergey Lakhtyukhov.

He pointed out that the pace of production is increasing. So, in February of this year, the production of poultry meat increased immediately by 10% - this is the highest figure in the last three years.

The head of the union also noted that Russian poultry farmers have reduced their purchases of hatching eggs abroad in recent years. In 2021, the share of domestic products reached 84%.

“With the help of state support, from 2021, companies are building their own production of hatching eggs. In just a year, more than 100 million pieces of them were additionally produced at new enterprises. In a year or a year and a half, the level of dependence on imports in this area can be reduced to zero, ”Lakhtyukhov is sure.

Last autumn, the All-Russian Research and Technological Institute of Poultry Breeding of the Russian Academy of Sciences registered a new cross of meat chicken "Smena-9". As it turned out, the new bird surpasses imported analogues at times, and it will cost half as much.
