"Mutual trade in agro-industrial products is increasing. In January-November, trade increased by 36%, reaching $6 billion," Russian President Vladimir Putin said during talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping via video link.As reported, in 2021, trade between Russia and China in the agricultural sector exceeded $5 billion.
The Agroexport Center estimates the potential for supplies of Russian agricultural products to China at $6-10 billion a year. In 2021, exports amounted to $3.6 billion against $4.1 billion a year earlier, for seven months of this year - $2.3 billion against $2.1 billion for the same period last year.
The most demanded product in the Chinese market will primarily be fish and seafood. In 2021, the Russian Federation supplied almost $480 million worth of frozen fish to China against $1.2 billion in 2020. For seven months of this year, exports amounted to $432.5 million.
There is also growth potential in the supply of grain crops, meat products and vegetable oils.
