Turkey is not going to support anti-Russian sanctions, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. According to him, the authorities won't allow their citizens to freeze without energy sources from Russia, TASS reports.

Almost half of the natural gas that Turkey uses comes from Russia. Together with Russian partners, Turkey is building the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, Recep Tayyip Erdogan recalled. The authorities are obliged to fulfill all their obligations to the country's 85 million people population, the president stressed.

Ankara has repeatedly said that it is not going to join the sanctions, because they are damaging the Turkish economy.

Erdogan also called the S-400 case closed. Turkey previously acquired a modern air defense system from Russia, despite the fact that NATO, led by the United States, was unhappy with this. Later, NATO offered Ankara to send S-400 to Ukraine, promising to lift the previously imposed restrictions in exchange. However, the Turkish authorities refused to do so.
