Over the past eight months of this year, Ukraine has increased the export of live cattle abroad by 21.4 percent from the same period last year, or up to 13,600 tons.
Despite such a significant increase in the indicator in physical terms, in monetary terms it increased by only half a percent - to $21.8 million. The reason for this slight increase could be low prices for animals.
Among specific countries, Lebanon became the leader in procurement, accounting for 55.3 percent of volumes (meaning in physical terms). Egypt and Jordan took second and third places.
At the same time, Ukraine’s own imports of this cattle over the same period decreased by 62.6 percent or to 268 tons. In monetary terms, the cost of purchasing animals decreased slightly less - by 54.8 percent or to $1.4 million. The largest suppliers of live cattle to Nezalezhnaya in January-August were Denmark with more than 79, Poland with almost 20 and Lithuania with 1.1% of the total volume.
