Ukraine hides the presence of African swine fever (ASF) and highly pathogenic avian influenza in the country. The head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert spoke about this on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel, dedicated to the results of the year.
According to him, the department made such conclusions while working with new Russian regions. At the same time, he noted that Ukraine was allowed to supply its products to Europe. The import of 300,000 tons of poultry meat has already become an example. This poses a serious threat to the epizootic security of neighboring countries. Dankwert also fears that the last of these diseases could be caught by many Europeans because of people who travel to the border for benefits.
Regarding the impact of Western sanctions on the work of the department, Dankvert said that they did not affect her in any way. He noted that our country has lived in such conditions throughout its history. Also, according to him, Russia does not experience problems with the export and import of agricultural products. “Since 2000, we have begun reorienting ourselves to our production, and refusing to import from countries such as the United States and the European Union. Then we imported 3.5 million tons of meat, and then we went to South America. That is, we have established good relations - Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador. We never focused on Europe,” Dankvert explained. Meat export today, according to him, is 690,000 tons, while imports have fallen to half a million tons. At the same time, he noted that half of the last figure falls on Belarus, and "these are not imports, but deliveries within the framework of the union state."
The head of Rosselkhoznadzor also commented on cooperation with new entities. He said that earlier the department had already contacted the competent services of the LPR and DPR on this issue and plans to continue and expand this work. In particular, he recalled that a special working group had been created for these purposes. The Russian department regularly discusses all issues of epizootic safety with its colleagues and constantly keeps the situation under control.
